Review Gin Vantage 3
- Details
Flashback to our review 2020: According to GIN, the Vantage 3 is a new concept of paramotor wing: light but durable, easy but nice to fly, aimed at beginner to intermediate paramotor pilots and free flying pilots. Marc Coffinet tested this universal wing for free.aero magazine.

The 2022 season will start in September 2021 and comprise Aksaray - Turkey, Gochang - Korea, and Traslasierra - Argentina.
The season 2022 will continue in the first half of 2022 with 2 or 3 additional events to be ended with a European Superfinal, most likely in late European summer.
PWCA President Dimiskovski Goran says:
"We finally have a workable and very well-balanced calendar. Further information about selection rules, non - devaluation of letters, entry fees, rules changes, and detailed media presentation will follow shortly.
With hope for a successful 2021 competition season"

Indian Summer 2020
Paragliding activities have recovered surprisingly well from the first shock of COVID. Manufacturers, who feared bankruptcy, are selling more than ever before, and during this summer, the skies have been full of pilots happy to have found their freedom again.

Coupe Icare completely cancelled
- Details
Due to COVID problems, the Coupe Icare was to be held only for the pilots, without the general public. Unfortunately, the organizers were finally forced to cancel the event completely. In a press release, they explain this decision: "The fear for the health of the participants, our volunteers and the inhabitants of the village, as well as the increasingly heavy sanitary requirements, and the defection of many exhibitors, pushed us to take the decision that seems to us the wisest."
They will meet again from September 12 to 19, 2021...
Paragliding World Cup Disentis 16-22nd August
- Details
Better late than not at all, the World Cup season will take off from Disentis on Sunday the 16th of August.
In Disentis the pilots will be flying in an area which is strongly influenced by valley winds and with very complex aerology. Often the style of flying can be quite close to the terrain with not a lot of thermalling going on. Those who do well will be the pilots who really understand how the air is moving on and around the mountains.
The event will bring together 14 Super Final, World Cup, World and Europe champions, all trying to prove that they have nothing to prove: Stefan WYSS, Torsten SIEGEL, Honorin HAMARD, Charles CAZAUX, Baptiste LAMBERT, Joachim OBERHAUSER, Michael SIGEL, Andreas MALECKI, Felix RODRIGUEZ, Stephan MORGENTHALER, Alfredo STUDER, Marco LITTAME, Michael KÜFFER and Luc ARMANT.
Hot on their fairings, almost a third of the pilots who will be competing have A’s!
Tougher still, 7 out of the 9 ladies competing have already won the ladies title: Laurie GENOVESE, Seiko FUKUOKA NAVILLE, Méryl DELFERRIERE, Silvia BUZZI FERRARIS, Constance METTETAL, Yael MARGELISCH and Emanuelle ZUFFEREY.
But above all, Disentis 2020 is going to be a fantastic get together of old friends, long standing rivals, new World Cup pilots and flying families. Fathers and sons will be competing against each other (Cyril and Baptiste LAMBERT/Koen and Aron MICHIELS). Brothers trying to beat brothers (Thomas and Nicolas DINH), sisters trying to beat brothers (Constance and Simon METTETAL). Famous couples Clement and Yael/Nanda and Hansjörg WALLISER will be in full on racing mode, desperate to get to goal first, knowing that last one home in any couple always has to do the washing up!
Disentis 2020 will also give pilots a glimpse of the Gin Boomerang RFC (Ready for Certification) glider being tested by Torsten SIEGEL.
The only thing that none of them will be able to beat is, weather permitting, the stunning alpine scenery.
Whilst making the most of the only opportunity open to them so far this year, the World Cup is still really looking forward to being reunited with the rest of our flying family in some of their favourite worldwide locations as soon as possible.

Trends 2020 part 2 (update)

Update: free.aero magazine remains free... and even better
As we already wrote last month, despite the consequences of the Corona virus Lockdown on the paragliding and PPG-economy, everything we have published in the past and in the future will, of course, remain available for free; that’s the principle of our magazine. There will perhaps be small changes concerning the number of pages... We will, on the other hand, highlight the upsides of these major changes. Lots of pilots have rediscovered slightly onerous tasks such as DIY and improving their own equipment which costs very little to do, along with training and mental and physical preparation, which costs nothing. You will therefore, from now on, find even more content of this type in your magazine free.aero...
And we have worked on a new feature many readers asked for:
A clickable index/summary on the website.
You can even find every photo and diagram in the ---> detailed index
